Stocks Golf Club, Hertfordshire

The club’s entrance and car parks were previously dominated by overgrown, unattractive shrubs, giving the site a tired, uninviting feel. I redesigned the area with generous new beds around the car parks, clubhouse entrance, and the 1st tee. Large beds were divided with grass paths to make the space more manageable and guide golfers naturally through it. Small yew hedges provide structure and shelter for the plants, essential on this exposed, windy site. The bold planting scheme offers all-round seasonal interest, with sculptural seed heads adding winter appeal, creating a far more welcoming sense of arrival for members and visitors.
